So how does it feel to be that child who can’t manage to read or write? How does it feel when something distracts you, and the door to the world of imagination opens? And how is it possible that when the teacher speaks, you don’t hear a thing?
How does it feel when everyone around you succeeds in school, and you’re left behind? How does it feel when you’re asked to read in front of the whole class, and you simply can’t, and you try to explain to the teacher that the letters are dancing, but the whole class laughs, and the teacher interprets it as insolence and sends you out?

And now it’s already the second year of third grade. They held you back a year because you failed all the subjects.
You have no friends at all because you speak a different language. You’re interested in fish, puddles, and imaginary creatures. You love puzzles and can draw for hours.
And at home? At home, you have an older brother who is amazing and manages to be number one in his class in all subjects. He plays competitive tennis and is the pride of your parents. And you? A failure. You’re exposed to humiliation, remarks, punishments, and even beatings when you don’t succeed. You walk in a world of your own, wandering... walking... and disappearing...

Your self-esteem is so low... and then your parents, who have long since given up, decide to send you to a boarding school. Because maybe there, they’ll turn you into a proper person. And there, things only get worse day by day. You’re fading away... Once, you tried to tell the teacher that you couldn’t. Today, you’d rather say you don’t want to because you’re ashamed... and then you’re labeled as rude and disruptive.

Until one day, a substitute art teacher arrives. And he sees you. He recognizes in you the child he once was. And he is that adult who believes in you when no one else in the world does!

He is the adult who believes in you when you’ve long since stopped believing in yourself. And he drips onto the fortified wall you’ve built around you. Drops of faith, love, and hope. He knocks on doors, explains your struggles, and asks for the chance to be there for you. And drop by drop, the wall begins to crack, and light starts to shine through.

The movie "Like Stars on Earth" tells the story of Ishaan, a third-grade child living in India.
It’s a story about accepting those who are different, a story about the education system, a story about learning disabilities, about ADHD, about creativity, about self-confidence, about motivation, about success, and above all, it’s a story about love.
Because it takes a big heart to shape the minds of little children...

it takes abig heart to help shape little minds...
Thank you to my dear friend, Anat Shovali, one of the educators that Israel is fortunate to have. I am fortunate to have you as well.

A must-watch movie for parents, teachers, and educators from all walks of life.
Prepare some snacks, drinks, and most importantly, tissues... and above all, open your heart...
Enjoy watching!
