Domestic violence comes to our awareness through media channels and social networks.
Sometimes it trickles in, and sometimes it comes in waves. One of the major concerns during the social isolation period of the coronavirus was the issue of domestic violence, which escalates when there is a prior history.
Everyone is confined to their homes, the fear and financial anxiety increase the tension, and everything is already sensitive and volatile.
We were all recently shaken by the story of Michal Sela, of blessed memory, who was murdered by her husband. On the program "Uvda," we met her sisters and close friends, who described the difficulty of not knowing. Because Michal didn’t share. Following the incident, her sisters established the Michal Sela Forum (NPO).
Then came the horrific murder of Maya Wisniak, of blessed memory, who was murdered by her partner. And those around her—family members and friends—didn’t see it coming. Really? Is there something we can do? Are there signs and red flags that were missed? How involved can we be, and how much can we intervene to change the situation?
On the website of the "Michal Sela Forum," they went above and beyond by highlighting important points: "How do you know?" Five warning signs in a relationship.
When we hear about domestic violence, we immediately associate it with violence between partners or violence by parents toward their children. And then this book, "Recalculating the Route," written by Ilanit Friedman, came into my hands.
Ilanit Friedman is married and a mother of four.
For most of her life, Ilanit has worked with children of various ages, and in her eyes, they are all special.
Today, she dedicates her life to raising awareness about the issue of violence that comes from children toward their parents, the need for a change in perception, and seeing the entire picture.
Her guiding principle is love and giving.
