Times of uncertainty are fertile ground for anxiety, loss of control, and chaos.

Now, more than ever, it is our time as parents to create a routine adapted to the new situation.

Think of the puzzle that made up life as being mixed up, with some pieces missing. New pieces are needed to replace the old ones so that the puzzle can be complete and clear.

Since it’s unclear how long this situation will last, plan for the upcoming week.

A defined schedule will provide children with a clear framework.

A fixed wake-up time will help maintain the habit of waking up in the morning and going to sleep at night.

Create a timetable that includes meal times, learning time, playtime, creative time, physical activity, rest time, and household chores (Passover is approaching).

Later on, the Ministry of Education will likely arrange for remote learning, and then you can adjust the schedule accordingly.

Children of all ages need a routine, even if it’s an emergency routine, even if the situation has changed. Don’t lose control. Take control of the situation. Convey a sense of business as usual. Explain what remains the same and what is changing.

And, of course, stick to it.

Adapt the daily routine to the children’s ages and their areas of interest.

May we know better days soon.
